Bison Aluminum Horse Trailers With Living Quarters
Bison has been in the business of constructing trailers since 1984. Their success attracted the attention of the Monaco Coach Corporation and late in 2005 Monaco acquired Bison. Monaco Coach Corporation was started in 1968 to design and build motor coaches. The company has been growing ever since. Monaco is headquartered in Colburg, Oregon but has factories located in Indiana. Bison Trailers has always been located in Milford, Indiana. It seemed an ideal merger for both companies. After the acquisition the focus of Bison was turned toward manufacturing aluminum horse trailers with living quarters. The greater share of their production is now their four lines of aluminum horse trailers about 75% of which include living quarters.
Bison has since successfully introduced several innovations such as the true flush floor slide out system. One of the most popular models now sold is the Alumasport. This aluminum over steel built trailer has all the amenities found in the more expensive horse trailers offered by competing companies. Some standard features included at no additional cost include:

Padded refrigerator doors were introduced in 2008 along with heavy duty doors and windows. For the horses there are improved chest and butt bars. For ease of use hydraulic jacks with electric jacks on the larger units. For comfort a 15,000 BTU air conditioning unit can be installed on the roof. For winding down at the end of the day after settling the horses, a 20″ swing out tv. As you can perceive, nothing about the Alumasport or the newest offering, the Stratus, is spartan.
The high status of the Bison Horse Trailer Company was evidenced at the Horse Expo in Denver, Colorado when the Stratus was introduced to the public. The horse people who were comparison shopping received it favorably. The general consensus was that the Stratus was priced $10,000 to $20,000 lower than similarly equipped models sold by competing companies. Obviously that amount of savings will buy quite a few bales of hay!
Bison has produced quality, well-built trailers since 1984. Bison trailers have been very affordable for the average buyer. The original Bison steel trailer in the early years was known as one of the most rugged, sturdy and strongest trailers built.
In 2003 Bison made the decision to add the trailer conversion process to the regular manufacturing operation. Since then, Bison has become a “One Stop Shop” with all aspects of the manufacturing process at the same facility.
Later, the addition of the all aluminum Stratus to the line-up brought a new dimension to the Bison products. Today, Bison trailers are distributed and serviced by a National Dealer Network that stretches from coast to coast.
